The International Bergisch Art Exhibition is taking place in Solingen for the 80th time this year. Founded by Solingen artists after the Second World War, the exhibition was created to give artists a platform in peace and freedom and to affirm the independence and self-determination of art. Today, the exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Solingen is one of Germany’s renowned presentations of contemporary art, attracting attention far beyond the region.
Lara Werth (*1996, Bonn) graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2024 as a Meisterschülerin of Katharina Wulff, having also studied with Siegfried Anzinger. Her work has received growing recognition, including the Prize of the Art & Culture Foundation Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf (2025) and the Van-Rinsum Scholarship for the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2024).
For the exhibition, Werth presents a combination of her large-scale drawings as a collage. Using marker, ink, chalk, and oil pencil, she creates dense visual worlds in which architectural fragments, urban infrastructures, and organic forms intertwine. By bringing individual works together, she creates new connections and a larger fictional landscape that reflects the complexity and fragmentation of contemporary urban experience. Alongside her artistic practice, Werth is a professional martial artist and holds titles in Full Muay Thai and Full Contact Kickboxing.
