upcoming: Joschua Yesni Arnaut – »ungerne« (solo) in Frankfurt

News 21.04.26

Some exhibitions claim clarity. »ungerne« does not. The title itself introduces a resistance: what is refused remains active at the same time. The first solo exhibition by Joshua Yesni Arnaut at Galerie 3AP revolves around states between inner attention and external attribution. Again and again, new traces of authorship appear. Authorship shifts, becoming permeable without dissolving entirely. The exhibition space is not neutral. It brings its own tensions: historical, physical, acoustic. It condenses the works and places them under pressure. What is at stake is a form of listening that does not promise clarity. Rather, it is about registering shifts, disturbances in rhythm. Systems that are meant to provide orientation (physical, cultural, social) begin to stall. They still function, but differently. Nothing remains fixed in the social sphere either. Questions of authenticity, appropriation, and belonging linger without being resolved. Cultural signs circulate, tilt, and slip away. What appears to signal belonging may just as well be its opposite. This exhibition keeps precisely that state open. Contradictions are not resolved but put on display. Curated by Aileen Treusch with a text by Alex Leo Freier.

The exhibition opens on April 25th 2–4 PM, with the artist in attendance.
