We are pleased to announce our participation at Paper Positions Vienna. The fair will take place at Kursalon Hübner, a historicist building in the style of the Italian Renaissance, located in the 1st district in the city center surrounded by renowned art institutions. Both venue and medium are an opportunity to explore the question of recourse and reinvention. In the field of fine art, ‚drawing‘ often does not appear as an independent category. It is preliminary or subsequent, presumably a medium of subordinate importance. When the question is posed as to what drawing is, a satisfactory answer seems impossible in view of the almost infinite possibilities that open up in this medium. Nevertheless, you can be sure that everyone has a spontaneous opinion on the subject and is very likely to equate drawing with the use of the line. It is therefore our particular joy and honour to present the works of two young artists who create scenes of virtuosity in an impressively contrasting way: In both cases, the paper takes on the function of a catalyst, allowing chance and systematic disorder to become visible.’Color‘ and ‚line‘ (disegno and colore) are defined in a technically sophisticated way. In Philipp Naujok’s work, concentrated light becomes the most important act of pictorial construction, with Lara Werth making use of almost the entire range of classical drawing utensils.
