We warmly congratulate Camie Klein on the successful conclusion of her first institutional solo exhibition »I Have Been You« at the STUDIO of Kunsthalle Mannheim.
What remains when a body leaves its trace? When touch becomes material, and everyday objects carry the memory of a presence?
Klein’s fragile installation brings together everyday objects and clinical materials, with blood and soap inscribed into the space. Moving between presence and absence, intimacy and distance, the exhibition invites us to look again at what bodies leave behind.
One of the works in the exhibition builds on Untitled (Skin, Daughter, Chamber), developed during Klein’s solo exhibition »Bodies in Residue« at Galerie 3AP. While the earlier work draws on registers familiar from bureaucratic contexts, the new work takes the form of the name plates typically found on mailboxes. Instead of individual names, each name plate bears the word “You”, tattooed into soap with blood.
The exhibition is made possible through a benefit auction by ARTgenossen, the young patrons’ association of Kunsthalle Mannheim.
The exhibition closes this Sunday, August 23, 2026.
