Lara Werth shortlisted for the STRABAG Art Award 2026

News 20.04.26

A graduate of the Düsseldorf Academy (2024), Werth constructs dense, multi-layered montages on paper, combining marker, chalk, oil stick, and ink to create dystopian urban landscapes interwoven with fragments of nature. Her work navigates a dynamic tension between expressive immediacy and structured composition, resulting in visually compressed, narratively open image spaces. Werth studied under Siegfried Anzinger and Katharina Wulff, whose distinct approaches –  gestural intensity and spatial narrative construction – continue to inform her practice. Operating between these poles, Werth has developed a unique visual language defined by layering, fragmentation, and figurative density. Her works are currently on view in »shifting fields« at the gallery in Düsseldorf and were also included in the gallery’s presentation at Art Düsseldorf 2026.
