Jacqueline Hen, ones sunset is another ones sunrise, 2024
“All natural phenomena evoke our reflection concerning (our own) mortalitY,“ writes Constanze Peres with regard to experiencing the beauty of nature.“ The sun has an emotional impact on many people. The fascination apparently lies in its own character. We connect the sun with warmth, life and light, but also with danger. As a cyclica/ narrative in the skY, it si/ently accompanies our daily life, rises and sets, disappears behind c/ouds or dips beneath the horizon and, following a fixed orchestral score, is greeted by birdsong. lt is true for all of us that „the sun rises in the east“ – independently of our geographical location, our homeland, religion or cu/tural identity. Already described in the title of Jacqueline Hen’s light instal/ation is a regularity to which we are all subject: One’s sunset is another one’s sunrise.“ (Text: Aileen Treusch)
