Nadine Karl
My artistic practice is guided by the search for a liminal space between fiction and reality – for what may exist beyond human perception and how it might take form. Through installation and sculpture, I construct speculative environments in which human and non-human perspectives intersect, enabling alternative conceptions of temporality, corporeality, and interconnectedness to be examined. In doing so, I create emotional spaces that engender distinct experiential states. Ecofeminist theory provides a central conceptual framework for my work. It critically examines hierarchical structures and anthropocentric paradigms, while articulating models of coexistence grounded in vulnerability, empathy, and reciprocal interdependence. Literature and film function as conceptual and imaginative frameworks for exploring speculative ecologies and hybrid modes of existence, which I translate into spatial, atmospheric configurations. Sand holds a defining role within this material language, signifying sedimented time, instability, and openness. Through these constellations, hybrid territories emerge, in which perception operates relationally and the boundaries between body, environment, and imagination are continuously redefined.

on view: Nadine Karl „79. INTERNATIONALE BERGISCHE KUNSTAUSSTELLUNG“
As part of the 79th International Bergische Art Exhibition, Nadine Karl presents a spatial installation that weaves together photography, sculpture, sound, scent, and elemental materials into a quietly immersive environment. At its center lies a mixture of fill sand and silver sand – a substance that functions both as a fragment of landscape and a metaphysical cipher.

now open: Julian Heuser, Nadine Karl, Toni Meyer, Julie Mia, and Lara Werth „Suspension of Disbelief 2“
Suspension of Disbelief 2 continues the exploration of perception, illusion, and emotional projection initiated in July 2025 through the work of Julian Heuser, expanding the conceptual framework into a polyphonic group exhibition marking the season’s opening. Curated by Aileen Treusch, the show brings together works who examine and broaden the theme from diverse artistic viewpoints.
now open: Nadine Karl „Epiphenomenon“
In her artistic practice, Nadine Karl explores the multilayered entanglement of temporality and fiction. At the core of her work are analytical dialogues between sculpture and installation that critically question conventional, linear structures of time. Her works transform ephemeral and potential elements into complex, overlapping spatiotemporal configurations that deconstruct concepts of identity and collective memory, making a dynamic, fleeting reality perceptible. A key feature of her practice is the multidimensional approach through various senses: olfactory elements and sound are purposefully used to create immersive experiential spaces that expand and destabilize perception. In doing so, eco-feminist questions increasingly come to the forefront.
now open: air shelter
During Nadine Karl’s exhibition Epiphenomenon, both levels of the gallery will be activated. In addition to the main exhibition space, the air shelter in the basement will also be part of the show.
upcoming: participation at DC Open
We are excited to announce our participation at DC Open 2025 with the upcoming group exhibition Suspension of disbelief II at our Düsseldorf location. The show features works by Julian Heuser, Nadine Karl, Toni Meyer, Julie Mia and Lara Werth.
